He married 18 June 1820, Jasper Co., GA (MB a p. 201) by E. Dodson, J.P. Lucy Brown, b. 22 Oct. 1800 (son's Bible), d. 14 June 1872 (stone in Coryell Co., TX). Her obituary states she had been a resident of Campbell Co., GA for 30 years but had spent the last 6 years of her life in Texas with her children. A surviving letter from her on 19 April 1860 from Station Creek, TX states they had been "out in the western world for 2 months or more" and that they would be back sometime in the fall. She also states that if her daughter (Mary B, Bartlett) would move out there they would not return to GA. However, they returned for Ephriam died there in 1862. Ephriam lived in Jasper Co., GA before he moved to the Coweta, Campbell Co. area. He was living in Goodes district of Campbell Co. on 26 Dec. 1850 and 16 Feb. 1856 when he made affidavits for possible land grants for his service in the War of 1812. He does not appear as the head of a household in the 1820 census of Georgia. Family tradition states he had an uncle named William B. Pennington and although Jasper Co. estate index gives the will of William B. Pennington the book does not survive. This will was admitted to probate having been proven by Abraham Key, Ephriam and Elared Wilkinson, 3 of the surviving witnesses and letters were granted to Mary Pennington and Thomas Pennington, Executors. Gilbert Shaw, Abraham Key, David Hendon and Amos Cofferman and Henry Glover were appointed appraisers on Nov, 5, 1827. Thomas Pennington's will was transfered to Meriwether Co., GA and his estate is settled there. He had a son Ephriam who also became a Methodist pastor but after the death of his first wife he moved west and married twice more with families by each wife. There is some connections between these families but it is yet to be proven. The census gives Ephriam's birth place as NC. An earlier Ephriam of the State of NC was granted land in Wilkes Co., GA (Grant Book D, p, 375) in 1797. Wilkes Co. records give no help here. A family of Pennington was later in Jefferson Co., GA with similar names. Jefferson was formed from Warren and Burke Counties which were formed from Wilkes Co. The Ephriam Pennington family states that Ephriam had a brother Abraham, a brother Samuel and a sister Anna or Amma. WIFE NOTES: Lucy Brown CHILD NOTES: Sarah M. Pennington CHILD NOTES: William B. Pennington General: Mary Pennington Bartlett was known for many years as "The Widow Bartlett" in the Center Point area of Carroll Co., GA where she lived and struggled to rear her minor children. Marriage records in Fulton Co., GA shows name as Nancy. Date of marriage shown in PP19-1, pg 54 shows 01-15-1855. CHILD NOTES: Martha Jane Pennington General: Went to Texas in 1856 and has descendants there, one is Mable Blackstock who is said to have the family bible, address unknown. Name shown in one source as Jane M. Marriage records shows Martha Jane. CHILD NOTES: Eliza Agnes Pennington General: Eliza was the second wife of Overton Davenport. CHILD NOTES: Ephriam Pennington General: Ephriam Pennington was not living at home in the 1850 census. There was a Dr. Ephriam Pennington living in Cobb County, GA, the adjoining county who may br this son; however, the Rev.
