A different list of children is provided by Bobby Pennington of Charleston, SC. The list shown in these records is the list provided by Bobby Pennington on 2/6/1997. WIFE NOTES: Sarah Lusk CHILD NOTES: John Franklin Pennington General: This family is given in PP8-2, pg 16, list family down to John Franklin. CHILD NOTES: Elijah Green Pennington General: Elijah served in the Civil War in the Union Navy. His family is given in PP8-2, pg 17. Living in MO by 1868. Notes from Rev. Jasper Green PENNINGTON, Ypsilanti, MI, January 1997: ELIJAH GREEN PENNINGTON (1841-1880) OF VERNON, ALBAMA & CAMPBELL, DUNCAN COUNTY, MlSSOURI Born in 1841 in Alabama; moved to Dunklin County, Missouri c. 1872, died in January 1880, in Campbell, Missouri. Married Mary Ann Lee (September 27, 1838-June 3, 1926). Both are buried in the Tucker Cemetery, Campbell, Missouri. Elijah was a US Navy Civil War Veteran. The 1880 Mortality Schedules, Dunklin County, p. 18, #30-29: Elijah Pennington, 39. White, male, born in Alabama, mother in South Carolina, father in South Carolina; farmer. Died in January of pneumonia. Dr. G. W. Hagle. Eight years a resident of Dunklin County. CIVIL WAR SERVICE 1887 Letter regarding Pension for Mary Ann Lee Pennington received April 16, 1887, Vidette Post, 272 GAR Campbell, Missouri Sir: I enclose a part of the Discharge of Elijah Pennington who is dead. His widow does not remember the vessel he served on and if you can ascertain from the records and the mutilated discharge (papers) enclosed you will confer a favor on the widow. Response from Navy Department Bureau of Equipment and Recruiting, April 19, 1887 Sir: The Bureau returns herewith the original discharge of Elijah Pennington, with the information, that he enlisted May 20, 1864 at Chicago as a prisoner of war for 3 years and was discharged from the ship Vermont, 2 June 1865, late of the Montawk.
