Joshua Walter Pennington (William, Joshua, Richard, Ephraim)
was born 20 November 1839 in McDonough County, Illinois and died 13 January
1915 in Oakwood, Dewey, Oklahoma. He married Catherine Barbara Emmert 2
September 1866 in Lancaster, Schuyler, Missouri, daughter of Phillip Emmert
and Mary Orth. She was born 24 March 1844 in Mutterstadt, Bavaria, Germany,
and died 24 November 1914 in Oakwood, Dewey, Oklahoma. Joshua was a
veteran of the Civil War, having enrolled at Memphis, Missouri 1861, in the
Missouri Infantry, Co. "B" 21st Reg.. He was discharged 1865, in Eastport,
Mississippi. He immediately enrolled at Quincy, Illinois 1865, in the U.S.
Veteran Volunteers, Co. "K" 8 Reg.. He was discharged 1866, in Washington,
D.C..
Their children were Lewis, Mary, Joseph, Bessie, Grace, Gertrude, Emma
and Francis; all born in Missouri or Kansas.

Laura Belle Pennington

Laura Belle Pennington, the daughter of Julius and Hannah
Spaid Pennington. She was born 16 July 1858 in Hampshire County, WV. She was
the wife of Francis Marion Braithwaite. The mother of ten children and
widowed at 35 years of age. The youngest child was a set of twins that were
born 6 months before the death of her husband. Life was very difficult for
her. As we do today during hard times, our family pulled together to get her
through this. Grandmother Laura died at the age of 75 while staying with her
daughter Martha in Winchester, VA. Laura Belle Pennington belongs to
PRA Family Group 9.

Earl Pennington

Earl Pennington, (JONATHAN, WILLIAM, AARON, EPHRAIM,
EPHRAIM, EPHRAIM, EPHRAIM, EPHRAIM, WILLIAM, JOHN) was born Aug. 9, 1908 in
Leslie Co. KY. He is the Great-grandson of Aaron Pennington and Ann Coldiron
of Group 31, and the Grandson of William Pennington and Nancy Thomas. Earl's
parents are Jonathan Pennington and Mary Jane Muncy. Earl served in the U.
S. Army in WWII and was wounded in the left shoulder and chest while serving
in the German Campaign in Belgium, Germany on January 14, 1945. This picture
was taken in 1944 just before he left for Germany. Earl Pennington married
Ruth Marie Ballew of Jellico, Tennessee on October 6, 1929; they had been
married for almost 58 years when he died in June 1987. Earl and Ruth had

She married Oscar Wyot Pennington 14 Feb 1884 in Osborne Co., KS
Hester died of breast cancer 21 Aug 1915 in Hotchkiss, Delta Co., CO.
She was the mother of Effie Madoline Pennington.

1827-1916, Oscar Wyot Pennington, son, born 1859 in Lafayette Co., Mo.
Death date unknown and son, Martin Pennington, born 1855 in Kentucky.
Martin was born with a club foot and withered hand. He married late in
life and died in California

Andrew Jackson Monroe Pennington Jr. was born in Winchester,
Franklin Co., TN 23 July 1852. Andrew died 13 July 1941 Mansfield, Scott
Co., AR, at age 88. His body was interred 14 July 1941 in Ione,
Logan Co., AR. He is the father of Omer Cyril Pennington (below) and the great
grandfather of Gene Pennington. His father was Andrew Jackson Monroe
Pennington, born 30 October 1824 born in Scottsboro, Jackson Co., AL 30
October 1824, died 11 February 1863 near Winchester, Franklin Co., TN, at
age 38. His body was interred 13 February 1863 in Winchester, Franklin
Co., TN.
His grandfather was Benagah Pennington, born in Grayson Co., VA 18
August 1770, died 12 October 1855 in Stockton City, Cedar Co., MO, at age
85. His body was interred 18 October 1855 in Stockton City, Cedar Co., MO.

Omer Cyril Pennington was born in Ione, Logan Co., AR 10
January 1898. Omer died 8 October 1971 in Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., AR, at
age 73. His body was interred 10
October 1971 in Abbott, Scott Co., AR. He is the father of Omer
Cyril Pennington, Jr. and the grandfather of Gene Pennington.
His father was Andrew Jackson Monroe Pennington Jr., born 23 July 1852
(above).

John Barton Pennington was born in Blue Springs, Roane Co.,
TN, 25 Apr 1820. John died 4 Oct 1910 Fresno, Fresno Co., CA, at age
90. John Barton Pennington is the brother of Andrew Jackson Monroe
Pennington, born 30 October 1824 (above).
His father was Benagah Pennington, born in Grayson Co., VA 18 August
1770, died 12 October 1855 in Stockton City, Cedar Co., MO, at age 85. His
body was interred 18 October 1855 in Stockton City, Cedar Co., MO.
Lynn Ready, who supplied the photograph, says;
"However, my grandmother, Martha Frances Tustin Logan, gave her
copy to the Southern Oregon Historical Society, Inc in Medford, OR. It is
item # 4096. The gift agreement states that it is a picture of John Barton
Pennington. "The donors mother was nine months old when she came
across the plains in a covered wagon. The mother's name was Martha Matilda
Pennington Tustin. The donor is the granddaughter of John Barton
Pennington."
The picture was taken in Fresno, CA by F. L. Rea
I give you my permission to use the picture, but thought you might
like the documentation I provided. I am in contact with descendants to 4
of the 5 daughters of JB by his first wife, Sarah Eliz. Hembree (counting
myself).
Steven and I are still looking for the fifth."

Pennington-Whitehead, b. January 1841, d. April 8, 1926; daughter of Ephriam
Aaron Pennington and granddaughter of Aaron Pennington and Ann Coldiron of
PRA Family Group 31.
She is buried in the Larkin Lewis Cemetery, Smilax, Leslie Co., KY. Amy
Pennington-Whitehead belongs with
