FIRST GENERATION

1.  Abel Pennington (1) was born on March 10, 1768 in NC.  He died on March 13, 1847 in Clinton Co., IN.

He was married to Patsy Lewis (daughter of James Theophilus Lewis and Wintery "Winnie" Henson) about 1789.   Patsy Lewis (2) was born in 1774.  She died before 1829.  Abel Pennington Group and Patsy Lewis had the following children:

3.  James Pennington was born on June 8, 1791 in Greenville Co., SC.  He died on July 10, 1853 in Dutch Creek, Washington Co., IA.  James served in the War of 1812.  James Pennington and Elizabeth Joseph, his second wife, had nine children of which only three are listed.

He was married to Susannah Smith on January 9, 1810.   Susannah Smith was born on March 29, 1789 in KY.  She died on April 6, 1828 in Hendricks Co., IN, Eel River Twp..  James Pennington and Susannah Smith had the following children:

7.  Abel Pennington was born on July 8, 1797 in Greenville, Greenville Co., SC.  He died on January 16, 1881 in Anneville, Jackson Co., KY.  He was buried in Jackson Co., KY, Moores Creek Cem..  Abel, son of Abel of Clay County, was born in 1797.  He married Elizabeth Bowling, dau. of Jesse Bolling & Mary Pennington Bowling in 1815.  He helped his Father-in-law develop Perry County, and later became a judge.  He died in Jackson Co., KY., in 1881.  Ref: Pennington Pedigrees 7-2, 8-2, 9-1, & 11-1.

He was married to Elizabeth "Betsy" Bowling (daughter of Rev. Jesse Bowling and Mary Pennington) on April 15, 1815 in Clay Co., KY.   Elizabeth "Betsy" Bowling was born in April 1794 in Hawkins Co., TN.  She died in February 1884 in Jackson Co., KY.  Abel Pennington and Elizabeth "Betsy" Bowling had the following children:
