Simeon
Pennington - 1775 Russell Co. VA and Barren Co. KY
SIMEON PENNINGTON- was born 1775 in North Carolina. He was living with his son Samuel in Jackson Co., TN in 1850 and died after that year. The 1850 Census lists him as 75 years old and born in NC. Simeon appears with the Timothy Pennington (Group 4, son of Ephraim V) family in Russell Co., VA about 1800 and then later in Lincoln Co., KY with the same family. The 1810 Census has Simeon in Barren Co., KY living close to the Timothy and Richard (Group 4) Pennington families. The 1820 and 1830 Census lists him in Monroe County KY. The 1840 Census shows him to be in Williamson Co., IL, and the final Census where he is listed is 1850 in Jackson Co., TN. Simeon also, possibly, had a brother named Riggs (ref. PP vol.26 no.1 page 28).
Simeon Married Elizabeth (possibly Whitson) about 1793 in North Carolina.
Elizabeth died sometime after 1850. Elizabeth is also called Liddy, Lizzy, and Libby in some records. Simeon and Elizabeth had the following children-
SAMUEL PENNINGTON- was born about 1794. The 1860 Census for Jackson Co., TN. lists his age at 68 however a petition by his sister Elizabeth for bounty land in 1872 shows his age to be 78. Samuel married Polly (Mary?) Rolston on May 28, 1815 in Jackson Co., TN. Samuel and Polly had the following Children-
MARY (POLLY) PENNINGTON- b. 1817 in Jackson Co., TN
WILLIAM PENNINGTON- b. 1819 in Jackson Co., TN
WELCOME PENNINGTON- b. 1/10/1823 in Jackson Co., TN
NANCY PENNINGTON- b. 1824 in Jackson Co., TN
JANE PENNINGTON- born 1832
SAMUEL PENNINGTON-born in TN
ELIZABETH PATE PENNINGTON- was born about 1797. She died after 1880. She is found in the 1880 Census living with her grandson Barton Moss in Clay Co., TN. Elizabeth married Anthony Wayne Pennington, son of Joshua Pennington (Group 4). Anthony was born about 1793 and died June 1, 1849 in Greene Co., MO. He was a veteran of the War of 1812.
Elizabeth and Anthony had the following children-
URIAH PENNINGTON- born about 1814 in Barren Co., KY
MARY (POLLY) PENNINGTON- b. abt. 1819 in Jackson Co., TN
SILAS PENNINGTON- was born about 1802 in Jackson Co., TN. He died October 29, 1859 in Hardin Co., KY. He married Nancy (Robertson?) b. bet 1798-1803 d. Aft.1880. They had the following children-

THOMAS JEFFERSON PENNINGTON- b. abt. 1827
RICHARD PENNINGTON- b. abt. 1829
DRURY PENNINGTON- b. abt. 1832

ASA PENNINGTON- was born in 1805. He married Anna who was born about 1813 in TN. They had the following children-

ELIZABETH PENNINGTON- b. 1836 in Fayette Co., IL
SIMEON SYLVESTER PENNINGTON- b. 1838, Fayette Co., IL
ELIHU PENNINGTON- b. 1840 in Gasconade Co., MO
POLLY PENNINGTON- b. 1846 in Gasconade Co., MO
JOSEPH PENNINGTON- b. 1848 in Gasconade Co., MO
MARTHA PENNINGTON- b. 1853 in MO
WILCOM (WELCOM?) PENNINGTON- was born about 1809 in Kentucky. He is found in the 1860 Census of Jackson Co., TN living next to Samuel.
WHITSON PENNINGTON- was born 1811 in KY and died January 4, 1865 in Osage MO. He married Mary (Polly) Chapman 1832 in Jackson Co., TN. She was born 1813 in KY and died September 22, 1879 in St. Clair Co., MO. Whitson is said to have died as a prisoner during the Civil War. Two of his sons, John and Polk, also died during the Civil War. Whitson and Mary had the following children-
